"I had no idea how complex rescue work was, and what the people at WDC have to consider as they decide what is going to best for the animal." - Elizabeth G.

"I love knowing that I am directly helping animals, and helping the work to stop the reasons whales and dolphins get stranded in the first place!" - John M.

With the help of supporters like you, WDC has expanded our Marine Animal Rescue and Response (MARR) service area to now cover 300 miles of Massachusetts coastline, including the 34 Boston Harbor Islands. Our work is part of NOAA's authorized and coordinated national stranding network. What makes WDC unique is that this frontline response is matched by policy and science work that tackle the root causes of harm, including protections like vessel speed limits and reducing accidental entanglements, and our "Green Whale" approach linking whales to ocean health and climate resilience. It’s the WDC difference: hands-on rescues today, lasting protections for tomorrow.

Each level (known as Protector, Responder, and Rescuer) has value for everyone - from the budding marine scientist to the die-hard ocean lover who wants to connect directly with our stranding coordinators.

If you love the ocean and the animals who inhabit it, then this is the perfect membership for you (or to gift to anothe ocean-lover!) By becoming a member, you are making a difference in the welfare and conservation of marine mammals and the ocean on which we all depend. Save the whales, save the world.

Note: this is a science-based membership that may contain images of deceased animals.

Your exclusive updates are sent out on the first Tuesday of February, May, August, and November.
