Whale and Dolphin Conservation is seeking a creative and ambitious ocean lover, writer, and communicator to join our team as a Grant Writer/Philanthropy Officer. This individual can successfully research, write and manage grants (60%) as well as support other fundraising efforts (40%).

The candidate will become part of a team of passionate researchers, advocates, and educators whose work is making a massive impact in marine conservation and education.

Our dog-friendly office is based in Plymouth, MA, but remote candidates will be considered.  A benefit package is included, along with a chance to see whales and dolphins in the wild.

WDC is a global marine conservation group, dedicated to protecting whales, dolphins, and their ocean home. Through a combination of public outreach programs as well as policy work, we educate people on the key roles whales play in a healthy ecosystem and inspire these same individuals to take action.

We are currently working to prevent the extinction of two species of whales living off the coasts of the United States and address environmental injustice as it relates to marine mammal conservation.


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • The candidate must be organized and able to meet deadlines
  • Proficient computer skills required (Excel and Microsoft Office a plus)
  • Minimum two years of demonstrable success in grant prospecting, writing and management
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies
  • Experience with institutional donors
  • Previous non-profit experience preferred
  • CRM and Graphics experience a plus
  • Must be able to work some nights and weekends
