Meet our new Commonwealth Corp team members

About Commonwealth Corp

Commonwealth Corps works with partner organizations focusing on providing workforce development, health & nutrition, education, youth development, & veteran support. Their mission is to strengthen communities by engaging people through volunteerism. Volunteers serve 10 months in full or half time positions and are sourced from a highly diverse group of Massachusetts residents. In addition, we are afforded training opportunities to broaden our skill sets and establish professional networks with both other Commonwealth Corps members as well as within WDC and its partners.

Meet Amy Wright

I am currently a student at Oregon State University majoring in Fisheries, Wildlife & Conservation Sciences. I was looking for an opportunity to start working in the field of conservation, whether through a job or an internship. I found the posting for this WDC position on Handshake, a job board for students. It sounded like the perfect opportunity, and when I saw that it was through Commonwealth Corps, that was an extra incentive! I have really enjoyed my time with Commonwealth Corps and WDC so far and feel lucky to be able to participate in this program. Being able to give back to my community while doing something I love is an amazing feeling!

Meet Douglas Sinclair

I am now retired and was searching online for opportunities to make a positive impact. I have always had a strong affinity for the ocean and at one point was looking to become a biology major. So, when I found WDC online, it looked like an ideal fit. It was clear early on that the work they are doing is critically important for not only whales and dolphins, but for the oceans, all marine life and the planet’s overall wellbeing. How could you not be excited about an opportunity to participate in something like that? So far, it has been an amazing two months, and I can’t wait to see what the next eight will bring. Thank you, Commonwealth Corps and WDC!
