Dolphin dies at zoo in Greece

One of the four dolphins that were transferred from a marine park in Finland to one in Greece last summer has died.

The bottlenose dolphin, known as ‘Delphi’, was thought to be around 37 years old. An initial autopsy has indicated that the cause of death was heart failure.

The four dolphins had been originally held at the Särkänniemi Theme Park in Finland until it announced it was closing in October 2015. The dolphins were moved to the Attica Zoological Park in August 2016. Delphi’s death brings the total to six dolphins that have died at Attica since 2010.
