False killer whales filmed hunting shark
A pod of false killer whales has been filmed hunting and catching a young shark off the coast of New South Wales in Australia.
The footage was taken by a drone off Cronulla, near Sydney. False killer whales hunt a variety of prey but it is rare to see them carry out such an attack.
Drones have become an increasingly popular tool for filming wildlife. WDC’s advice is that they should always be used responsibly and where appropriate under permit, with minimal disturbance to the wildlife.
