Wildlife Warriors are Raring to Go!

Here at the Scottish Dolphin Centre, we are all super excited for the summer to kick off. Next week the school holidays start and I for one couldn’t be happier, as it means Spey Bay will soon welcome the arrival of kids and their families looking for a fun day out.

There is always plenty to keep our visitors entertained and hopefully our record breaking bottlenose dolphins will be here to add an extra sparkle to the (hopefully hot and sunny) summer days.

As well as our tours and activities we offer to our visitors; this summer we see the return of the Wildlife Warriors Kid’s Club! This will be running every Wednesday afternoon throughout the summer holidays between 2pm and 4pm, beginning on the 9th July. Excitingly, there will be two themes for this year; the first 3 weeks will pay homage to Wild Scotland and the last 3 weeks will run under the title ‘Things with Wings.’

Children who sign up for Wild Scotland will be able to experience a safari; Spey Bay style! Kitted out like professionals, they will get to lookout for Scotland’s big six* animals – fingers crossed they can capture them in their natural habitat. Get ready to go wild!

*Scotland has their own big five, but here at Spey Bay we like to go one bigger and better and include the bottlenose dolphins!

Things with Wings will guarantee good fun as kids will get the chance to behave like a bee, spend a day in the life of a bird and learn about flying animals from the big to the very small! With games and activities that will involve blindfolds, dancing, water guns and chocolate, I’m hoping the kids will have an awesome time!

Our kid’s club is a great opportunity for children to work together as a team, to make new friends and to experience nature. Last Wildlife Warriors club at Easter saw both me and my fellow education volunteer Kristina, get covered in paint, twigs, leaves and whatever else the children could find! They then proceeded to hide us in the trees, demonstrating to the children crazy camouflage techniques animals use to stay hidden. The following week children explored the centre’s woodland – blindfolded. Children and parents alike enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and I’m sure this time round it will be just as thrilling!

As places are limited, booking is essential. The cost is a mere £2 per week but this year children are able to book on for an entire 3 week session for £5. Pay £10 and we throw in a t – shirt as well to commemorate their summer at Spey Bay!

Call for 01343 820339 for more details and to book your place. Wildlife warriors is aimed at children aged between 4 and 10. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

We hope to see you there! 🙂
