Dolphins help WDC supporter complete 6th marathon swim

WDC supporter, Adam Walker has battled ice-cold seas to completed number six of the world’s seven toughest swims.

His latest test was a 16 mile swim across the Cook Strait, in New Zealand. Adam, who is raising money for WDC, set off from Wellington’s north coast shortly after 8am on 22nd April and successfully reached Perano Head – 16 nautical miles away – around eight hours later.

Please support Adam’s amazing efforts with a donation on his Justgiving page.

Adam Walker swimming Cook Channel in New ZealandStrong currents, high waves, sea sickness and very cold water temperatures made the swim extremely difficult. Amazingly, only one other person has beaten the cold waters of the Cook Strait this late in the year. But Adam was helped along by a group of dolphins which closely followed him for an hour during the crossing.

Adam has already swum five of the world’s most gruelling sea crossings; the English Channel, Spain to Morocco and back, Hawaii’s Molokai Straits, Catalina Island in the US and Tsugaru Straits in Japan.

It’s not too late to donate! Please visit Adam’s Justgiving page.
