WDC Scottish Dolphin Centre receives unusual donation
The WDC Scottish Dolphin Centre was delighted to have received a donation of £625 from a rather unusual source. John Carney, from Garmouth in Scotland recently retired following 25 years working for the local Council and, as part of John’s farewell, his colleagues organised a Static Bike Challenge with three participating teams. The event was supported by donations and sponsorship totalling £1250, split between WDC and a project in Malaysia, that John and his wife are developing links with.
“I was honoured and humbled by the effort and commitment of friends and colleagues in marking my retirement in such a unique way. All concerned were happy with WDC as beneficiaries” said John.
“We are very grateful to John and his colleagues for thinking of WDC’s Scottish Dolphin Centre. The money will be put to good use in our work to protect the bottlenose dolphins of the Moray Firth,” said Alison Jordan, centre manager.
