Celebrity TV chefs, Rick Stein and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall will join a growing list of famous names who are lending their support to an ongoing project helping to raise funds for WDC.

Moby Dick Big Read is designed to bring the literary classic to the attention of a new generation and the both Rick and Hugh will be reading a chapter each from the famous book which members of the public can then listen to on-line, or download and collect through until January 2014.

The downloads are free from the Big Read website but donations to WDC are encouraged from the public to help us continue to fight the threats that whales still face today.

The Moby Dick Big Read has been two years in the making and will run online for more than three months following its launch at the Plymouth International Book Festival in September.

A range of stars from Sir David Attenborough to Stephen Fry, Tilda Swinton, and Simon Callow are among those who have already supported the project by reading a chapter from the famous book.

The project (hosted by Peninsula Arts at Plymouth University) is co-produced by WDC patrons Philip Hoare, artist-in-residence at Plymouth University’s Marine Institute, and artist, Angela Cockayne, from Bath Spa University, who will read a chapter herself in the coming days.
