Whale-friendly Lunches: Good For Kids, Great For Whales

Does your school serve ‘whale-friendly’* lunches?

We know that you care about conservation and wouldn’t want your school lunches to be linked to whaling. So, we need you to turn detective and find out which company supplies your school with the fish you eat.

Fish from the Hb Grandi company, or suppliers connected to them such as Warners or TQuality, has strong links with whaling.

How can you help?
Please ask your head teacher or school cook where your school gets its fish from. Use this simple info sheet to show them what it’s all about and write down what you find out.

What will we do?
We’ll do some investigation into the company you tell us about and send a certificate to all schools that serve ‘whale-friendly’ fish. Plus we’ll list them on our website. Don’t worry if your school does serve fish sourced from Hb. Grandi; we’ll send information to help them find a more ‘whale-friendly’ supplier.

So please get on the case and see what you can find out. The whales need you!

* here we are specifically referring to fish that was not supplied, directly or indirectly, by Iceland’s Hb Grandi company, because of its links to whaling

Don’t eat whale meat when on holiday.
