A Safe Home for Whales and Dolphins

For children all over the world, a home where they are safe, cared for and protected is vital for their well being. And so it is for whales and dolphins. We are developing an educational initiative that will encourage children to consider what a safe home looks like for whales and dolphins, what threats they need to be protected from, and how we can care for them and their homes.

During 2015, we will be working with schools and other groups to introduce children to their regional species of whales and dolphins. We want them to discover more about these wonderful marine creatures, encourage those that can to get out to the sea or local beach, help them to find out about regional conservation issues, and to give children a chance to express their ideas in a creative way.

Our goals are:

  • to challenge children to imagine how whales feel and what their needs are,
  • to help children understand that a safe home is a basic need not only for them but for whales too,
  • to help children understand why we need to protect these homes.

We are creating workshops and educational materials focusing on regional species of whales and dolphins that will be available for download, alongside an online gallery of children's artwork

We also hope to work with App company Fold World to develop a digital art space where children from all over the world can create their perfect world for whales and dolphins together.
