SeaWorld today announced the sad news that the orca, Tilikum, whose story was featured in the award-winning 2013 documentary Blackfish, has died at its Orlando marine park.
A cause of death has not been issued but concerns were first raised about the orca's health last year when he was diagnosed as suffering from a life-threatening bacterial infection in his lungs.

A rarely seen Shepherd's beaked whale has died after stranding on a beach in New Zealand. The whale was discovered at Caroline Bay in Timaru on Monday evening.
Despite the efforts of rescuers the whale could not be saved. It is not the first time a Shepherd's beaked whale has been seen in the area, leading to speculation there might be a population living in nearby waters.

Dolphins have been held in captivity for ‘entertainment’ in city facilities for 45 years, but the new announcement bans the building of any new dolphinaria and new homes will be sought for the six dolphins currently held (four in Barcelona zoo and two on loan to Oceanografic in Valencia).
