Canada needs help to End Captivity

Coming in the wake of recent efforts to end the cruel practice of captivity for whales, dolphins, and porpoises in North America, a bill currently in Canada’s Senate, S-203 (the Ending the Captivity of Whales and Dolphins Act), would phase out captivity of whales, dolphins, and porpoises in the entire country, with the exception of rescue and rehabilitation to return them to the wild.

A sad legacy: Captive beluga pregnant with her first calf

Georgia Aquarium recently announced the pregnancy of a young beluga whale held at their facility.  Qinu, just shy of 10 years old, was born in 2008 at SeaWorld San Antonio, and is expected to give birth to her first calf in late fall.  The last beluga calf born at the Georgia Aquarium died after less than a month, and
